Poetry Reading TONIGHT at the John Natsoulas Gallery: Bill Gainer and Dave Boles

Poetry Night at Bistro 33 welcomes poetry impresarios and publishers Bill Gainer and Dave Boles. They will be performing Thursday, August 18th at 8pm at the John Natsoulas Gallery, 521 1st Street in Davis.

A poet, essayist, editor, and MC, Bill Gainer has contributed significantly to the poetry scene in Northern California for more than two decades. Co-founder and current board member of the Nevada County Poetry Series, Gainer has read and worked with a wide range of poets and writers, including readings on KUSF with National Book Award winner and punk rock icon Patti Smith, with former California Poet Laureate Al Young, and with many literary luminaries. Published this month by Red Alice Press, Gainer's new book of "pulp poems" is titled A Note in the Window.

Opening for Bill Gainer will be Dave Boles. Boles has worked as an itinerant author, publisher, writer and designer since 1981 in a wide variety of positions. He is the founder of The Sacramento Free Press and the magazine Primal Urge. His publishing companies Neural Impulse Publications, Cold River Press and Bodhidharma Publishing, have helped many new writers, artists, poets, illustrators and photographers further their careers. A protégé of the poet Ben L. Hiatt, Boles currently resides in Grass Valley, CA.

I encourage you to arrive early to secure a seat, and to sign up for a spot on the Open Mic list. The Poetry Night Reading Series, coordinated and hosted by Andy Jones, takes place at the John Natsoulas Gallery on the first and third Thursday of every month at 8 P.M. with an open microphone segment at 9 P.M.

Gainer and Boles are entertaining poets - join us for an evening of creative expression and discovery.
