Shared Dreams and Green Ink: The Rebel Spirit of Pablo Neruda, with William O’Daly and Louis V. Johnson

*This will be held in the Sacramento/Foothills area.*

When: Saturday, June 4, 7:30–10:30 p.m.

Where: 671 Maltman Drive,Grass Valley, CA 95945

Join us for this reading, performance, and reception celebrating the culmination of William O’Daly’s 25 years of delivering Nobel Laureate Pablo Neruda’s late career and posthumous poetry to English-speaking readers. With the publication of the eighth and final volume, World’s End, O’Daly “brings his awe-inspiring … Copper Canyon project to a conclusion with taut, spare renderings that capture what, in the end, is the hopeful pith of Neruda...”* O’Daly also will share insights about living inside the poetry of the Chilean poeta del pueblo, “poet of the people,” for more than 30 years. Louis V. Johnson will play his Spanish classical guitar and perform with O’Daly, as the poet reads from Neruda and his own work. Louis, a highly accomplished and versatile guitarist, has several CDs to his credit, the most recent being “Goodbye to Mexico,” and will preview new compositions at the performance. A book signing will follow, and CDs will be available for sale.
