Authors on the Move; Words in Bloom; Marketing Yourself as a Writer; Getting Published: The Business of Creative Writing; Writing Group for Spanish-language Writers

Hi friends,

I know it's been a little while since I last posted. Things have been so busy here! I enjoyed seeing many of Sacramento's literature lovers this past Saturday night at Authors on the Move, the annual Sacramento Library Foundation fundraiser. The event raised over $60,000 for Sacramento libraries, including $25,000+ in support for this summer's reading program for youth. So exciting!

I have lots of info to share with you today, so here we go! ~Kate

Getting Published: The Business of Creative Writing

If you're like me, you love to write, you love to revise, you love to dream about what your book cover will one day look like…but you dread putting your work out there into the publishing world. There is so much to think about! If you feel overwhelmed at the thought of working to get your writing published, but you KNOW it's something you want to achieve, then this class is for you! Poet, editor and writing teacher Dorine Jennette will give you practical advice and achievable tasks in this UC Davis Extension course in spring 2011. For information on this course, as well as UC Davis Extension's other spring offerings (including Short Fiction Workshop, Nonfiction Writing Workshop, Tools of the Writer's Craft, Metaphor and Scene, The Art of Expressive Writing and—ONLINE—Creative Nonfiction Workshop and Poetry Workshop), please head to the website at www.extension.ucdavis.edu/writing.

Come to write and to share your writing, if you like, in a supportive, positive environment. This method is so powerful—I myself write in it—so definitely check this out! No cost.
