Do you like How about some Illiad?

Here are some selections:

MONDAY, MARCH 15 - 7:30 p.m. - Women's History Month Reading with: Felicia Martinez, Jane Blue, JoAnn Anglin, Yang Her, Lytton Bell, and Shevonna Blackshire at the SPC, 25th and R. Free. Open mic. 916-979-9706.

THURSDAY, MARCH 25 - 7:30 p.m. - Poetry as a Healing Art - A writing workshop with John Fox. $25. Pre-register with At the Pop-Up Gallery, 25th and R.

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 21 - 7 p.m. - This is the first in a Poetry and Film series in Sacramento. Screening of the documentary, "Red Poet: The Story of Jack Hirschman." Q&A with the filmmaker, Matthew Furey, and reading by Jack Hirschman after the movie. $10 admission for Jack's film and reading, plus this will get you into the Thinking People's Shorts Showcase at 6 p.m. and the short film Lychee Thieves. And if that isn't enough to quench your poetic thirst, why not down a few classics? Professor Kathryn Hohlwein is presenting The Homeric Imagination this year. In spring, starting March 17, there will be six weekly sessions Wednesday nights from 7-9 p.m. at SPC. In this session students will be reading The Illiad. In fall, it's The Odyssey.
