Nonfiction Writers: Sacramento Press Contest

Friends, I received the following in a forwarded email--and I'd love to see one of you win this contest!

The Sacramento Press is approaching its one-year anniversary this month and we thought, "What better way to celebrate our birthday than to have a journalism contest?"

Beginning Oct. 1 at 12:01 a.m. and ending Oct. 31 at 11:59 p.m., you can enter Sacramento Press's very first Journalism Open.

Since we first launched Oct. 15, 2008, we have aimed to be Sacramento's best hyper-local source for news. With the help of YOU (community contributors), we have focused on in-depth coverage of neighborhoods and stories that might not make it in other publications.

Now your acts of journalism can win you a number of prizes. All you have to do is post an article during the month of October and tag your story "Open 2009," to be entered in the contest.

We want you to tell the stories that haven't been told, voice the concerns that are affecting your neighborhood, and we want to help you do it.

We offer free copy editing and resources to help you write your story.

For complete details, please read The Sacramento Press Journalism Open landing page.

On Oct. 13, we'll hold a workshop to answer all questions related to The Sacramento Press Journalism Open.
